Tehran – The Iranian Minister of Agriculture said that the word "Jihad" (literally means to exert strength and effort, to use all means in order to accomplish a task) in the ministry's title signifies its dedicated role in securing the nation's food supply, particularly during crises.

 

Speaking at a crisis management meeting on Sunday, Gholamreza Nouri pointed to recent periods of heightened tension - referencing the "12-day war" and past week of "enemy aggression" - as proof of the ministry's resilience.

 

"The Ministry of Agriculture has demonstrated it stands firmly with the system and the noble nation," he said.

 

Despite the intense demands of the concurrent Ramadan and Nowruz seasons, compounded by current conditions, Nouri assured that the supply and distribution of essential goods are proceeding normally through coordination with unions and agricultural bodies.

 

 He announced that provincial agriculture heads have been granted expanded authority and instructed to conduct field inspections of markets.

 

Dismissing potential public concern, Nouri stressed the ministry was proactive following the "12-day war." "There is no cause for worry," he said.

 

"With constant market monitoring, even the smallest potential issue in the supply chain will be resolved immediately."

 

Declaring food security a cornerstone of national security, Nouri framed the ministry's work in patriotic terms, saying they work "alongside the proud guardians of the Revolution and the brave army" for Iran's sovereignty.

 

The meeting included presentations on reserve warehouses and price stabilization efforts, after which the Minister issued directives to streamline operations and accelerate food security for households.
